I’m gonna be quite detailed here,im interested in seeing a list of northern soul uk only 45s? Predominantly 60’s and some 70’s.

a list of 45s that are uk only,no foreign release or USA,no album tracks, and an original song for that particular artist! I imagine it will be a short list and of blued eyed soul origin!

RAY MERRELL TEARS OF JOY JAYBOY

MICKEY MOONSHINE NAME IT YOU GOT IT DECCA …these two are perfect examples of what I mean.

timi yuro never be over (this isn’t)

chapter 5 (this isn’t) these two have album an foreign releases!

I mentioned this one in 2008. The Chants - Baby I Don't Need Your Love.

  • John Drevars - the closer she gets - MGM

  • I think all of them fit my mate, apart from Lorraine silver which is a cover version of a USA release by some other woman!

Would love to know how this great Chicago artist ended up as a UK b-side to a white group, no credits printed on the label to go off. Same backing as Love Affair on U.A.

Could be wrong, but I’m sure I’ve seen this on another label, maybe a foreign label with a big hole?

Maureen Evans - Searching For Home - CBS UK

Not Northern but a very nice beat ballad, her last recording that didn't come out on any other format.

King Size Taylor - Somebody's always trying  on Decca

Isn’t this a cover of ted Taylor Julian? Or is this the original?

This is a good one, but its kinda mix of loads of tracks, but independantly written by Biddu Appaiah. Bit of Four Tops, and I hear the same arrangment as Billy Ocean, different lyrics.. and he even used 'Build me up Buttercup' at one point, it's more like a 'Pastiche' then anything else... but UK released...

Jimmy James - A Man Like Me

God dam your hard Dobber! lol

OK, from the big list above, I checked, most came out else where, stand by Keith & Billie - Taste Sour Don't It / Picadilly, although Penned by Jimmy Radcliff over there, it only ever got a release in the UK, as far as I can see.

Until of course his son Chris Radcliffe cut those acetates, well over a decade ago...BIG man obviously did release it last year of course, but not their version.

Jimmy James - I Feel Alright. I think it’s before Turley Richards but not sure if it came out elsewhere.

Nice one, had to seek out Pet Clark and The Undertakers as I didn't know those. Yes, Petula very similar to Holly St.James. Undertakers on album/CD only and a great blue-eyed version of 'I Wanna Be (your Everything)'.

That Jimmy James (Hungary EP) plays a totally (poorer) different take of "I feel alright" than UK Piccadilly. The jamaican release can not say which take does play.

I just got to say I love this:

Laurel Aitken - Sweet precious love (UK Rainbow)

UK only as far as I know unless a jamaican issue do exist which I doubt. UK production yes, but it's Soul in my book.

Larry Williams with Johnny Guitar Watson and the Stormsville Shakers - Sweet little baby (UK Decca)
