I mean REALLY pull at your heart strings

Records that go to the very depths of your emotions. You don't just hear them through your ears but you feel them through your whole body!

They almost cause physical pain but then the pain becomes a pleasure all of its own.

Hopelessly in love . . . lost love . . . unrequited love . . . you name it . . .

Two for me below. What are yours?

Lost summer love. Is one tune that springs to mind. From way back when I was a whippersnapper at the casino The Originals Baby I,m for real. Lonnie hill cold winter in the ghetto reduces me to tears every time I hear it. Ask the lonely , Levi tears your heart to shreds . there's so many. Steve

Etta James   "somethings got a hold on me"

just listen and enjoy

All proper soul songs should surely, but as always there is only one winner, at risk of repeating myself and it has to be the 12" version

Kim Tolliver Where Were You

It hauls out the heartstrings, wrenches out the backbone, boots you in the b*llocks and stares down at you asking if you want some more. I cant do you tube clips, but search it out, if you haven't heard it and you are any sort of soul fan, your life is not complete.

Now you see that was the sort of emotion I was looking for. This thread has got to be worth it for that sentence alone.

Brilliant

I might submit it to the Oxford English Dictionary as their new definition of Soul Music.

Then maybe the non-believers might start "getting it" . . . . . ! :D :D :D :D

Here's a few more -

Charen Cotten - A Little Bit Of Love

Gene Middleton - No One To Love Me

Willie Tee - Teasin' You Again

Sam Dees - Child Of The Streets

Leon Ware - Rockin' You Eternally

good job I'm in a happy place right now - cause I'm having my heart ripped out listening to these.

it would also suggest, that in the main, men are complete c*nts...

My collection is probably 75% sweet and deep emotional soul. But the one that first made a tear fall from the eye was Cody Black Mr Blue, right from the drum roll intro.

Kieran.

i can feel him slipping away, Mamie lee . the all time favorite record of my late wife . don't hear it out much , but when i do it brings a tear and a smile .

So many bring back so many memories of friends lost over the past few years. But this one always has a special place for me and bring a lump to my throat everytime I hear it nowadays. For my Brother Des [r.i.p]

What a soppy you lot are!  snivelling into your hankies i bet. Oh alright then - The Artistics - This Heart Of Mine or Percy Sledge's version of Any Day Now! - there I've done it and I'm crying now.

Watching my Daughter ( 6 at the time) through the rear view mirror as she is sat in her car seat singing "and i love her" Roy Hamilton .....with dramatic emotional actions to every word ! .

she has promised to dance with me to this at her wedding . She is 9 !

Buddy Smith --- When you lose the one you love

The Temptations You're my everything.Met someone who changed my whole life and the words couldn't describe better what she does for me.Poetry.

His finest hour, and there's been some good one's

No shortage of good taste in this thread.

lots of us like it deep Paul

I could never love another ; temptations ;written by roger Penzabene who also wrote other tear jerkers such as i wish it would rain/youre my everything and also the end of our road. His story and tragic demise somehow make the records more poignant.

So many but these two are special.

If I had been to a do (down the years) and been disappointed with the music, I used to go home and stick this on, made me feel better again, listen to it all the way, the ending is brill

James and bobby purify im your puppet, you are everything stylistics version.

temps - just my imagination has personal memories and gets me

.....but my bezzy mate, Chris Buckley, died 2005, just loved the dells and make sure always reminds me of him

Betty Harris " I'm evil tonight " does it for me everytime, but then again , so does the power and emotion of Ray Pollard's "the drifter"  and for some strange reason , Court Davis " try to think what your doing".............................right , I'm off to find some man sized tissues..!! :shhh:

The killer one for me has always been elvis American trilogy,if that's allowed on here lol.

Some great tunes on this thread, second one from me...

Emotional soul , ahh my kinda thread
