This is going to be a cracker (Easter egg pun intended). Been talking to Andy and he's promising the full gambit - unissued, rarely heard, mega favourites, and never heard before first time plays - we can't wait!
Keith will of course be working his usual dance floor magic, with Phil and I hopefully aiding and abetting.
Also realised it will be 31 years to the day that we sadly lost Pete Lawson. I'm sure more than a few of his favourites will be played and stories told on the night in his memory x
Very much looking forward to this! Guests for this one are Andy Rix and Keith Whitson, alongside myself and Phil.
If you were fortunate enough to attend the Runcorn venue when Andy was on, boy were we treated to a masterclass, a night considered by many to be up there as one of the best Grumpy's ever. We seriously can't wait to have him back, at least his journey will be easier than last time
The same with Keith - never, ever, disappoints and knows exactly what the Grumpy faithful loves.
We're about good tunes, all night. So, expect your favourites, your rarities, your oldies, your exclusives, your one-offs, your classics, but above all expect quality
Might be an idea to check the stage for any rogue items hanging around before Roger's on. Remember when he was on in Carl and Maria's room at Middleton, and he came steaming onto the dance floor with an upright vacuum cleaner in full Freddie Mercury mode
WHAT. A. NIGHT.
I won't leave a 'starred' review, as I think that's for you guys to give if you so wish, but jeez, talk about blown away. Since covid put an end to things, we've been thinking about putting something on but always wondered if anyone still wanted it. I think last night showed that you do. People were getting seated half an hour before we were due to start, with a full dance floor shouting for more after the last record was played at 2am. Amazing.
Massive thanks to Baz for asking us to take over for the night, and to our DJs Carl Fortnum, Lenny Harkins, and Kev Murphy for not putting a tune wrong. But the biggest thanks goes to you guys, you make Grumpy what it is, and you're all flipping brilliant
