IMO its the best discovery of the decade. As far as I know it was only played from around 2003/04??

Funny, i never realised it was only around for a few years, it sounds like the sort of stuff from youthclubs when i was a teenager, it just feels really familiar for some reason

Is it really a 1960 release as i've read? It certainly doesn't sound like 1960, late 60s maybe.

Again if you look round most people that hate it haven't got a copy and that ain't going to change much as i can't see many more copies being found now & good !!! let it remain dog rare !

the cloth ears bit was referring to the Cilla Black bit, I don't hear Cilla in there. I know vocally like said it isn't one of the greatest but as far as Northern goes, like you say one of the best dancers, and at the end of the day dancing is what this scene is essentially all about, taught or not

Can remember at the 100 Club, Guy was looking through the records and he dropped everything and dashed for the dance floor when this came on some years ago.

Pocorn told me that it was a contract job. She came in wanting to put a record out, paid Richard whatever, he recorded her, arranged pressing and handed them over to her. As far as he was concerned that was the end of the story.

Took him a while to remember the record when he was first asked about it. Producers like him would work on their own material for their own labels or the label they were signed to at the time and also do contract jobs. So Richards name does pop up on a few Detroit things where his involvement may have been little.

Normally when you see executive producer on a label, the chances of them being at the studio when the track was cut is only 50/50

I had the pleasure of talking with Popcorn Wylie a few times. He was a very nice man. When I brought up the Margaret Little record he gave me a few clues that I am still trying to piece together. He gave me some cross streets in Detroit of where he thought that he had to go to pick up some money from the person who invested in the recording. After looking in a 1966 Detroit Phone Book it checked out. Maybe there is still hope that there is a box of Margaret Little records out there just like the Clara Hardy record on TUNA that turned up???

Popcorn told me that a guy came to him with a singer he wanted recording. Thought he was a barber and seemed to think the guy's name was Geneboro.

I agree with Eddie Hubbard - the backing track is awesome. Vocals are terrible. Mrs. Miller meets Tiny Tim. Popcorn thought that he had a tape somewhere with the backing track on it so we will see...

I have seen a copy go through ebay so is it very rare or in the 10's of copy's known to mankind.

I Knew her well, & its time to own up...

I was in this library on this very rainy Wednesday in Redditch. I just happened to have my old trusty 1960's compact reel to reel tape recorder tucked under both tables.

Couldn't believe the tunes this Suebo chain smoker was belting out whilst stamping away....everybody going... SHHHH ...and all.

Well just a small hop over the pond and I slapped her on vinyl.....JOB DONE.

Tried palming it off to Cilla and Dusty ....but they just told me to piss off.

So there you have it...Sorry to disillusion so many these past years...but the cats out the bag now & boy I feel so much better...

Must admit when i first heard it,i could hear what i thought was a "manufactured" sound.Right at the beginning is a strange "Ohhh baby" vocal from a chap that sounds like its been added.

Saying that ,folks with the knowledge say its genuine 60's - Mike Terry involved.Was it recorded for a TV show?

Personally ,i like it,perfect dancer with all the ingredients.But is it too perfect............?

One hell of a backing track, and whilst vocally it's not great, it's a great all-nighter tune...which to these ears sounds nothing less than a genuine, on the fours, Pocorn Wylie, Detroit...
