Mal C Posted May 3, 2012 Share Posted May 3, 2012 (edited) One that gets missed allot is Major lance - I Never Thought (I'd Be Losing You) and Love Pains from his Now Arriving LP, got a nice British Motown demo of the LP which carried a nice pic of the Major as apposed to the strange red carpet on the yank release. Another that gets missed allot is the Aussie only Sue Barker release, basically a jazz funk LP, with a really nice version of Groovin, but 'Love to the People' is very nice, sounds like Curtis Mayfield song to me , I'd have to check when I get home. If someone played one of the above out on a re-issued 45 from recent days when you had the orig lp in your box ready to play, you wouldn't be happy?? Just like if someone did the same with orig 45's. I for one didn't think we were talking about scene specific reissues but the original release and the only legit way to own when released before the tailor made scene reissue. Very reminiscent to me of the Harvey Averne Dozen's "Think It Over" ( along with "wishing & hoping" also LP only- as far as I know). Here's a link to the LP only thread from last year. It ran for 7 pages. Don't think either the Balance Town or (definitely) the Crazy Beat 45 came out anywhere near the release date of the album,1978, according to Colin Dilnott's article the album was under promoted and very few copies saw the light of day therefore issuing a single at the time seems unlikely. Gene Townsel still has the master tapes but does not have a copy of his own album, I'm not sure but if you check his website the album may be available on cd from the man himself.
