A real hero of the Northern Soul scene. JJ could have bragged about becoming a Motown artist but his first love was always Mickays, Ric-Tic, Gooovesville and Revilot. Motown recorded him but that mate

  • So many fantastic records, but this is special  RIP JJ

Very sad news absolute legend.  His songs never age either sounds as good now as first time we heard them.  RIP J.J.

That's so sad to hear - he was one of the founding fathers of the soul scene - I saw him a few times at The Wheel way back in the 1960s. Lovely guy & a proper gent.

RIP Soul man😢

A real hero of the Northern Soul scene. JJ could have bragged about becoming a Motown artist but his first love was always Mickays, Ric-Tic, Gooovesville and Revilot. Motown recorded him but that material stayed in the can for many years until it was saved by the Northern Soul scene.

This one is from Revilot 222 and was first recorded by Darrell Banks.

JJ was right up there with the best. RIP.

What a legacy in great music JJ Barnes has left behind for us to remember him by, an absolute legend.

Condolences to all his Friends and Family 'Rest in Peace' JJ  And Thanks For The Memories

Very sad to hear the news of JJ passing. I was privileged to see him live. Not only could he sing he could do the movements too.

Sparse production with maximum appeal, the epitome of a club soul 45. Gritty, groovy, and definitely gettin' it!

Surprised no one posted this, a great track any way it comes, penned by Paul Carrack and played at the Casino as a new release. Still has the killer vocals on this 45, there must have been countless times when Marvin would've been sweating as JJ was breathing down his neck!

Nice cover of Hall and Oates Sara Smile on the flip too.

RIP J J our thoughts go out to the friends and family of a true soul legend.

R I P.. what a voice..

we are so so lucky to have the artists and musicians etc like JJ Barnes who  managed to make some of the most amazing records that we love and treasure
