always thought of clapping as a 'unique' sort of group communal remixing! as in at its peak the way it could change completely the way some records 'worked' was quite extraordinary!

Three questions:
When did this behaviour [on the rare soul scene] start?
What records inspired it: I always think of 'Tainted Love' but there must be many more?
When did it fade out? I remember it at late Ritz all-dayers but not at Morecombe or Stafford but I could be wrong.
Anybody got a memory or two to share.
