Forgotten Monsters From Wigan Etc Days

Always loved this track and whenever I hear it (which is rarely, sadly) is one of those tracks that instantly puts me back at Station Rd.

A full floor dancing AND clapping to this was truly fantastic.

And I wonder how many Jocks were caught out by that ending?..

None if the copy's like mine, it fades at the end, the abrupt breaks happen earlier than the end.

Morris Chestnut - too darn soulful, (yea still getting plays now and again, but omg what vocals!!)

Gerri Granger - I go to pieces (wasn't this a giveaway at one of the Anniversaries)

Determinations, You Can't Hold on to Love, (wasn't this a casino spin first?)

That look like everyone is embarrassed to say Footsie or to be associated with it, in the early days of wigan, people used to fight to get on the floor to this record. Mind you it went commercial on top of the tops and everyone jumped on the wagon wheel or the band wagon whatever you call it. To me this record is my early roots, i would never have it in my box. The start of Footsie with the horns in it for the first 15 seconds would be any rare record at a rare night. Cheers Billy

What about the Trade Martin acetate that was - "You know what I like"

or Jimmy Delphs - Dancing a hole in the world ?

Trade Martin not particularly forgotten just extremely rare, one acetate copy and owned by Richard still as far as I'm aware.

same for Jimmy Delphs, not many have a copy so not likely to hear it too often.

I never heard the kittens played at Wigan cos I only went a couple of times in late 70's.

I do seem to recall a blues and soul article showing top sounds of 74 and the kittens was near the top. Next time I'm in the loft  I'll hunt out the list.

Agreed. No way the Kittens or 5th Dimension were big at Wigan.

The Determinations was a late Wheel record. One of my all time faves.

Possibly the worse record I ever heard.

Trick Me Treat Me, can't remember who by, neither do I want to know, a nightmare of a song.

A decent tune that may have been generally forgotten Patricia Holloway Stolen Hours.

Always liked the Cobblestone ' Trick me, treat me' (covered as the Volcanoes), fast, obscure white garage, but a super sounding Northern stormer, and a true monster sound at lots of venues (and miles better than some of the uptempo obscure rubbish that is being spun at the moment). But what about ' Lets spend some time together ' LA Power and Light (terrible Inst cover of R. Stones), and ' When love grows cold ' (Ron Grainer Orch), another awful casino inst spin.
