Top Tips For 2013

Recommended Posts

Fair enough,

but if they'd stick a couple words on when they post Youtube clips, for those of us firewalled, :dash2: I'd have seen it...

Nevertheless, it's a cracker

I hope I didn’t come across as some Soul-source anal expert, I thought you would want to know as I would if I’d made such a ‘catastrophic’ error :D

I to made a mistake once :excl: (Not sure what this icon means, but it's a rare one)

All the best,

Len

P.s — Ref above folks, write down the titles of clips posted.

Got put onto this cracking old skool 60's dancer by Gloucester's finest recently - old Rob Marriott c/u apparently. Would be good to see it take off again - although think someone told me it's had plays in Burnley or somewhere similar recently?

One I used to play aswell c/u as The Coasters, had it stolen from me at the 100 club, many moons ago, the label had a distinctive tear on the flip!

I've made bigger ones--I'm married.

Any way another to lookout for that sounds awesome out loud

Le Tre Femme-Open Up The safe-Uptight-or 20th Century

Can't find on Youtube, but it's well worth a listen.

Well I know this used to played many moons ago and to be honest don't know if it still is but to me one of my old faves.

Now if it still gets played out I'll shut the f*ck up but this loud is awesome IMHO

MIKE JEMISON - I WANT SOME SATISFACTION - GENEVA - Cheap as chips !

Got duped a bit on this when I first got it (new release? I swapped it for the other side - QUICK CHANGE ARTIST Doh!) won't tell you what I swapped it for :wicked:

Cheers

Swifty

Indeed a great sound Swifty and think it was played at Move On in Coventry at some time.

A few mid-tempo things that I reckon could get plays this year;

Double Trouble - To live is to love (Pilot Master)

Indigos - Rest of my days (Wildfire)

Cooperettes - Win all your love (I-D-B)

Caesars - I've got to know (Both Sides) looking for a clean copy of this btw!

Emanuel Lasky - Just the way (i want her to be) (Music Now)

Elements - Hey lady (saru)

A little more up-tempo;

Benny Hall - Your love got healing power (Mammoth)

Here is one that has been around in the smaller clubs for a while, think with the reation it gets, its primed for a bigger arena this year

Roy Roberts Experiance / Bee Hive

I've played this a few times already (taste of Honey / Con.Soul) - I had a panic because I did have a copy and thought I lost it but as usual it turns up somewhere random in the house.

Enchanted Five used to get plenty of spins at the Orwell several years ago. Didn't realize that it wasn't well known or widely played

Dave

For years it was a £20-£30 record Dave, last year or so Have seen it listed a few times at £100, on more playlists now, Orwell was a great progressive venue Dave which will have done it justice leading the way for that type of sound

Hi all,

Apologies the update took a while and due to prolonged illness not been on SS for a few days.

Really good response this year. We have 98 Top Tips to date!

I can see we have a big influence and suggestions from outside the UK, which always adds a bit of variety and spice.

Also, a few 'funkier' contributions, as anticipated.

So, here we go with the consolidated list, thus far.

Will be interesting to see how some of these transfer into more and more playlists through the coming year(s).

Thanks everyone for you contributions and continued interest.

All the best,

Sean

I might get shouted down for this as when I asked about it last year or so I was told it was a cheap oldie, and sure enough it was a very easy find. So it has probably been getting plays everywhere for the last 4 decades but I'd never heard it and it "sounds just right for today" as they say.

Johnny Moore - Call It What You Wanna - Chi-City

Can't see this one actually mentioned above, but it's pretty tough to find despite being pretty well known about and I think quite infectious in a Roy Dawson sort of way. Twas covered up for a short while.

Guest Brett F

fab call this one, definitely already one of the upcoming top tunes judging from the feedback on fb and dancefloors across europe

https://soundcloud.co...iew-im-superman

Fabulous Marc, i remember Ralf, emailing me asking if i knew it pre last October (Hamburg, weekend), i didn't, i did manage via the web to find the label owners daughter, but didn't get any luck. Have you a copy by the way ?. Ps first time i heard it out was the Sunday boat trip,( played by Ralf ) sounded outstanding. ATB Brett
