Casino memories.  I was lucky enough to own a original.  I consider it a hard / rare  record . but the Soul police would consider it white pop crap.  If you where there you would understand.

It really is rare on the original.  Think I paid £120 for it about 15 years ago . So the price in today's market isn't that inflated . Good luck with the search

Its tough imho never saw many back in the day and its a record that rarely turns up. Not my cup of tea but deffo a time piece etc,used to echo round the casino and in that place sounded bloody marvellous much like many of the other tracks of that nature that had that feel but lacked real soul content.

PS There did go onto become the Ambassadors that cut that Pee Vee track another casino biggie as we know but not be confused with the Herley Johnsons Ambassadors that cut all those fab cuts on Arctic Atlantic etc.

Always liked it along with Burning Bush / Wakefield Sun Etc

Agreed Ste. Even 5 decades after the event people are still under the illusion that Northern Soul has to be performed by a Brother from the Ghetto.. 

Mine was given a rare outing @ The Big  Wigan Weekender mini nighter Good Friday still gets a massive reaction now !!!

The Fleet 45 is a great record and in my experience the tougher of all their records.

Agree. Proper northern soul intro. Very infectious at 3am.

This was a massive mod record around 1985...loads of copies about.I have a spare somewhere and i Know a few collections where it is Tucked away.

The  copy John Manship has up on this Wednesday's Auction has cleared 400 sheets now be interesting what it ends on...  

I bought a minter about 5 years ago for £125, sold it in a collection to Chris Anderton who later sold it for £125 as well.

Stop girl was a 5 or 6 week wonder....

They were ALL 5 or 6 week wonders back in the day because there were so many like this getting found.

Hardly a classic but bound to be rare ish...as they probably only sold a few hundred at most.

Most of the ones we got were from the US warehouse raiders like soul bowl.

I think it's all to easy to forget this on Today's stagnant scene. Back then you missed a couple of Niters and the playlist had completely changed.

Stop Girl is a fantastic Dance floor Track for what, after all is a Dance floor based scene. .... whatever silly label people insist on sticking on it, and every other track in it's History.

Indeed it was a production line back in the 70s but not all of it has stood the test of time.

Rarerity rules when it comes to second rate conveyer belt  records  it would have been hard to keep this one in the old noddle ( unless you are a stones fan ) TSWONS 🙊🙉🙈

Punter 2......No. What's it like?

Punter 1......Superb. It's gonna go massive. It's proper rare too.

 

It got played, it got danced to, it's got history, on a small label like this and it bombed on first release, so it's going to be rare.

However, it's personal choice whether it's quality or not.

Just because it's all those things above should not make it more likeable, but will probably make it more collectable to rare Northern Soul record collectors. 

£500 would buy a lot of quality less rare originals, but to some folks that's irrelevant.

So, why no credit for Snow White on lead vocals? Maybe Warwick Davis is bidding for the thing as he likes small records?  Amazed this record is even worth a serious mention. Definitely a Guilty Pleasure. Never heard it played out. Do not anticipate ever hearing it in public. Some really bad records were played at Wigan but that’s no justification for reviving them. Actually, pleased that someone likes the record sufficiently to want to buy it.

I used to  play it out at various nighters . Middleton,  Sheridans. Winsford.  Morecambe,  Bretby,  Leicester,  Rugby , countless soul nights and always to a great reaction.

People will revive them purely cause it is a tough record to find and cost a few bob.

And here`s where it gets a tad confusing. If the Seven Dwarfs - Stop Girl is a 1968 record, what`s with this quote?

 I’m the sax man from the Ambassadors. That’s the Ambassadors from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, about 60 miles northwest of Philadelphia. The group started as the Seven Dwarves. In 1964, they added two horns–a trumpet and a sax, very unusual for the time–and became the Ambassadors.

I know both are definitely blue-eyed soul groups  but could this be a different group? 

 

Personally I think both Stop Girl & Too Much are outright rubbish 45s but that`s only my opinion. 

All I know is, Rick Reardon appeared in both groups. See bottom credits on Ambassadors 'B' side for vocals...

There no attempt of soul in Stop Girl as it's a rock song.....

TMOAGT at least tries harmony....ive always liked it.

The 'other ' Arctic/Atlantic Ambassadors should have sung it, and I'm sure it would have been perfect!
