Spacehopper
been discussed on other threads..will be watching if i remember but the cynic in me says it will be the same old same old...got a few dvds with various programmes from tv over the years and they basically all say the same with different faces..same clips from this england and based mainly on the wigan years...seen a couple of clips on facebook and was good seeing them chat to the youngsters...would like to see more of todays scene that doesnt involve oldies nights at kings hall to be honest...i know its the biggest night etc so tv companies are only interested in that but ive seen it a few times now!...still can live in hope dean Link to comment Social source share

Popular Post Steve S 60
I'll plus it, and probably watch it at the same time, ready to come and get those memories...... I'm going to turn the central heating up full, throw a bucket of p*ss on the downstairs lavvie floor, then get the wife to drop me off at the railway station. I'll then run back home, where the kids will be queuing outside the front door. Once the wife opens the door, I'll barge my way to the front, run through the house and plonk myself down in front of the TV. If I get bored with the show, I'll go and look through my record collection. 14 Link to comment Social source share

Mark Jones
Yep pretty good as it goes...as northern transfers to video goes...8.5/10...no baggy trousers, no Levine and replace with Keb 10/10 But certainly the essence of what Paul Mason felt as what we all feel 10/10! 2 Link to comment Social source share
Seano
Enjoyed it. I'm sure we'll all have parts of it we wish had been different but overall it felt like a good niche programme. Left out a lot obviously, maybe 100 Club being a very big one. But all credit to our Mr Mason, good moves, if he's not even been to a soul night for 30 or so years. Great to see at least a few moments of the Wigan Young Souls too, some great dancing there. And the clips integrated from the film, Northern Soul, look very promising..... 1 Link to comment Social source share
Popular Post Iancsloft
Quite good ..Enjoyed watching it but if they should have interviewed me and the lads n lassies who lived with me at the Bungalow in Lowton just down the rd from Wigan if they wanted a more nitty gritty view on Wigan Cas at the beginning lol Nice to see mi buddy Dave Withers then & now top bloke the young soulies have a fanatic passion for the music just like I had all those years ago and still have to this day Northern Soul.. But for Black American Soul Music we would never have met so many nice people, become very good friends with so many or had our life's fulfilled by a type of music which for many of us is not just a hobby but a way of life... Don't Keep The Faith Spread It Love, Peace & Happiness Always Ian Cunliffe ( without the baggy pants n vests ) 5 Link to comment Social source share
Ernie Andrews
glad they didnt play joe 90 Watched it live on I PLayer! Isnt that the problem- They just mention the positives even suggesting the drugs were in some way a positive in the scene & I suppose for those on them it was I know you cant get much into 30 mins - It was a enjoyable memory lane trip but lobsided IMO 1 Link to comment Social source share
Alison H
I really enjoyed it, how could you not with some of that soundtrack! Half an hour wasn't long enough It obviously didn't reflect the whole scene, but I like that fact, some things are best kept a secret, & underground. Not a bad watch at all Regards Ali x 3 Link to comment Social source share

MrsWoodsrules
Agree, not too bad really, and quite good in parts. Thing is, the scene itself if fragmented, we all like some bits of it & not others. Think this piece showed it warts and all, but above all, that its about the music. I always think what would outsiders think? like people in work etc. I think it showed the scene up to be more intriguing than sad, which is what I initially worred about. Same old clips though. but overall, good. 2 Link to comment Social source share

Driveller
I always think what would outsiders think? like people in work etc. Interestingly, my wife was getting texts from people at work and the big question was 'can you really dance like that too?'. Frankie Crocker
Corking soundtrack. Lots covered in a short space. Nice balance of past and present. Fran's still got the moves and Trickster's slowing down. Best bit for me was the Young Soul in his bedroom - such commitment bodes well for the future. Shame there's so little movie footage of the Casino so it tends to be recycled. Congratulations to Paul for a job well done. 2 Link to comment Social source share

Little-stevie
Brought back my youth in a flash and made me glad I gave so much of my life to soul music.. So much more to the scene that still needs to be told but a decent effort and did not have to watch it through my fingers... 7.5/ 10..... I am still waiting for that true feeling I felt then and still feel now to be shown and captured on film.... 2 Link to comment Social source share

Guest kevmorby
Hi, believe me I really do hope the film is a massive success. Everyone concerned has put a huge amount of effort into it. The bar was set by Paul Sadot's stage show but then it came crashing down with Soul Boy which irrespective of the subject was truly truly dire. So good luck to Elaine and her team lets hope it's a peach....... Link to comment Social source share
