Just seen on Facebook that Joe passed away last night. I sincerely hope that is incorrect.

I have had a pm from Joe's uncle regarding this sad unexpected news.  Joe passed away on Sunday night whilst on holiday in the USA

 

He said he will post up on here when more information is released after a post mortem has been carried out

 

Joe was a long time valued member on here and a current member of the sites mod team, he will be missed

Such sad unexpected news is hard to take in, a sad day.

My thoughts and deepest condolences go out to Becky his wife and all his family and friends

Absolutely gutted.....had some great times with Joe over the years, but especially the last year or so when over Sheffield for the King Bee nights, sharing a fair amount of real ales in the afternoon on Kelham Island.

We had similar tastes in music, humour and beer, and I will miss him so very much.

I feel sick and numb. The R&B scene can be a daunting place if you're a newbie but one man always made me feel welcome and always had time for a chat and to answer my questions about any records I'd heard and/or wanted. Joe Dutton, Sheffield's finest. R.I.P. I didn't know Joe well, only meeting him at dos, but he was the sort of bloke that lit a room up and that wasn't just because of his loud shirts. Totally shocking news and my condolences go to his family and all that knew him.

I just can't believe it. A dear friend and a great man. So many good times, especially our Hamburg trips, one of which ended up with me and him in a karaoke bar at some ungodly hour having a sing off with the bar owner. Great memories of a smashing bloke. RIP big man, we miss you already.

What a gentleman! He really was. 

I'd always look forward to the Hamburg weekender knowing I'd spend a good amount of time with 'Tiki Joe' and his great mates (him and Shane particularly, were like a double act).

There were always good-natured laughs and talking about records/trainers and everything else.... I'll miss his gentleness, wisdom and cheeky spirit.

Shocked and saddened. Met Joe a couple of times through knowing Kim Cooke ( bitch DJ,). Blunt and VERY funny. Good knowledge too...

Very sad, never knew him personally but corresponded with him a few times on SS and bought a few records off him,

I've just read this on Facebook, totally shocked by this very sad news, Joe was a top man a true gentleman and loved his music with a passion, not seen him since a small record fair I ran in Hyde a couple of years back, huge loss to the scene, rest well mate.

• If this is true then we're gutted. Big friends of Joe and Becky in the scene for 25 years plus. First met at the Travellers Rest Rotherham many many moons ago. Regulars at most niters I used to attend including in the R N B scene. Heard he was in hospital (not sure why) but was expected to be well again and discharged. Will be phoning around trying to get more info.
